A cum laude graduate of Brandeis University and magna cum laude graduate of the Washington College of Law, Mike has devoted his practice to the representation of health care providers and health care institutions. Formerly a shareholder in both a small firm and a large national firm, Mike’s civil litigation practice has always concentrated on the defense of physicians, health care institutions and other health care providers in medical malpractice matters. He is passionate about the defense of health care providers and committed to providing his clients with the highest level of representation to achieve the best possible outcome.
Mike also routinely represents physicians and other health care providers in credentialing matters and in proceedings before the state of Maryland licensing boards. Having spent the majority of his professional career serving the legal needs of health care providers, Mike has also developed a general counsel practice designed to serve the needs of solo and small health care practices by providing high quality, efficient and cost-effective representation in matters such as HIPAA compliance, health care employment agreements and operating agreements. Mike has previously been recognized as one of Maryland's "Super Lawyers" in the field of medical malpractice, a recognition reserved for the top five percent of lawyers who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement within the specialty of medical malpractice.
Mike enjoys teaching and is frequently asked to provide lectures and educational seminars to physicians, nurses, medical staff leadership and other health care providers in areas of interest to health care providers. A sample of the topics Mike has presented include liability issues particular to EMR, Pitfalls of EMR with Fraud and Abuse, informed consent, and liability with physician extenders.
