Thomas P. Turgeon is a trial lawyer admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia. Mr. Turgeon has been retained as lead counsel on a wide variety of cases in the areas of general liability, professional liability, and in defense of auto torts and property and casualty claims. His experience includes defense of first and third-party insurance claims involving personal injury, breach of contract, property damage, insurance fraud, medical malpractice and professional liability claims. Mr. Turgeon focuses his legal practice on the defense of individuals, as well as commercial businesses, hospitals and hotels. He has over twenty years of experience handling civil tort claims related to auto negligence, premise liability, surface water disputes, trespass, nuisance, defamation, invasion of privacy, wrongful death and intentional torts involving mold, bedbug infestations and infectious disease. He has extensive experience defending property and casualty insurers against first party claims for breach of contract, homeowner’s and fire insurance coverage benefits and bad faith. He defends commercial businesses, hospitals, hotels and individual healthcare providers in a wide range of actions sounding in general liability, medical malpractice and breach of contract. He has provided numerous property insurance coverage opinions and analysis, conducted examinations under oath in insurance fraud cases, handled subrogation matters and defended against ERISA disability claims. As a trial lawyer, Mr. Turgeon understands the importance of providing clients with practical legal advice to assist them with balancing business risk while avoiding unnecessary litigation.
Mr. Turgeon has handled all facets of insurance defense and litigation in U.S. District Courts and in the multiple District and Circuit Courts of Maryland as well as in the District of Columbia. He has successfully presented winning arguments to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and in the Maryland Court of Special Appeals.
